...and today was the first. This is the exact round-trip route I took from my house:
It's exactly 5.9 miles(C is the starting point). I plotted the course on Google Maps, strapped on my running gear, picked up my MP3 player, and headed out. It seemed easy enough. Back in my cross-country days, we would do something similar for practice nearly five times a week.
Hah yeah. Those days are over.
I hate hate hate HATE-FREAKING-DIE this route. If you know anything about Palos Verdes, there are a lot of hills. And SOMEHOW(I don't even know how this is possible), this route mostly takes me uphill. I was panting, I was sweating, I was swearing(good-word swearing), and I was thirsty. It took me an hour and a half when it should have taken me fifty minutes.
AND if you've ever driven to my house you might know about the street Via Valmonte... which is a 0.9 mile 25 degree-ish uphill climb. I virtually crawled up that.
Anyway, I'm gonna keep at it, but I'm gonna shorten my route next time until I can do better.

Dood, that sounds intense. I was more of a sprinter not a long distance runner. But hmmmmm we should all def go jogging & hiking when I come to visit next week! :D
im a long distance runner ... wait .. WAS .. now im more of a if-i-have-to-walk-to-my-car-im-pissed kinda girl .. lOl
but yeah.. seems crazy intense .. but like wouldnt all that cardio make you skinnier?!?!?!!! O.o

chris - LOL yeah it's weird how that works... go out of our way to run several miles, but get mad when we have to park far away! haha..
andy - yeah man i'm totally down. but just to warn you, it was totally hard. we can maybe do the same route, except come back the way we came instead of going in a circle. that way, we don't have to hit as many uphills.
and you can take pictures if you're willing to hold the camera. i wanted to throw my iphone away after like 3 miles.
oh and christy, no i won't really get that much skinnier, since i already have a really really low body fat percentage. if anything, it'll increase my appetite so that i can eat more and feed my muscles.
